This Fall, we are launching our first formal training program to equip and shift resources to young people looking to organize for menstrual freedom in their communities.
For the first three months of the seven-month program, fellows will be given instruction on history, the ideology of menstrual freedom, advocating for change, dialogue and messaging, coalition building, and fundraising. This foundational knowledge will set each fellow up to ideate and launch a community project relating to menstrual freedom of their choice.
In the second month of the program, each fellow will be matched with a mentor in their geographical area who will guide and assist the fellow on how to launch their community project. Based on the work we have previously done, we expect fellows will pursue art projects such as zines and other art materials, advocacy initiatives at the state and federal level, educational work distributing menstrual health education to people in need, and community engagement events such as book clubs and other digital spaces to convene, educate, and create.
In the fourth month of the program, each fellow will be provided seed funding for their community project as they continue instruction for their elective track. Track options include climate justice, disability justice, racial justice, LGBTQ+ justice, advocacy, community engagement, art and activism, and culture agitation.
This work will create young leaders who will know how to take a project from start to finish. We will also guide fellows on how to create coalitions of progressive movements in the fight for menstrual freedom and justice.
